Imitrex,
Sumatriptan tablet is a very well known drug use to treat migraine. Its active
ingredient is the sumatriptan. This drug is a saline and water soluble drug.
This medicine also contains inactive croscarmellose sodium and sodium
bicarbonate. It has also the component of triacetin, iron oxide, and titanium
dioxide. Imitrex is use to treat migraine attacks for adults. Single dose of
this drug from 20 mg to 100 mg tablet is effective. However, drug may be given
twice or thrice depending on the person’s response to the drug. This medicine
is supplied in 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg tablet. The 25 mg and 50 mg tablet is
usually triangle in shape and is off white in color. The 100 mg tablet is
triangle in shape and pink in color. You can store this product in up to 30
degrees Celsius.
This
medicine is not advice to take by patient with patient suffering or has history
of PVS or peripheral vascular syndrome, ischemic cardiac disease, and cerebral
vascular disease. Imitrex is also not to be given to patient with high blood
pressure or hypertension as it is associated in the elevation of blood
pressure. It is also not to be use by patient with liver disease. A very
important thing to know if you are using Imitrex is that you should not take it
if you have symptoms of insufficient blood flow. Patients who are taking
antidepressant should be cautious in using this drug too. This drug is for 18
and above patient only. We all know that all medicines have side effect into
one’s body. Among the side effects of this are cramps, muscle aches, feeling
sick, grogginess, numbness, tingling sensation on the skin, dysphagia or
difficulty swallowing, wheezing or even severe such as loss of vision. This
product can be stored in a room temperature, away from light and water. Do not
use this product if it is already expired. It is also important to dispose the
product properly.
